Draft: to be reviewed before public launch. This text is a working draft, not reviewed legal advice. It will be revised and given a new version number before the service opens to the public; if the version changes you are asked to accept it again.
1. Your frames stay yours
You keep the copyright of the sub-frames you upload.
2. What you allow the project to do
You let the project calibrate, register and integrate your frames together with other contributors' frames, and publish previews (such as stacks, coverage maps and history images) made from them.
3. Licence of the results
The integrated gold masters are licensed to every contributor of the project under the licence the owner chose: members only, CC BY 4.0 or CC BY-NC 4.0. The licence is shown on the project page and when you join. Public downloads of masters are not offered at this stage.
4. Credit
A credit list generated from the project's members (by display name) is attached to the masters and shown on the project page.
5. Raw frames and the owner
The project owner receives the integrated masters. Your raw frames are available to the owner only if you opted in, and you can change that setting at any time.
6. Leaving
You can leave a project. Your frames can be withdrawn, in which case they are left out of the next gold stack and your raw files are deleted after seven days. An owner can remove a member and choose to keep or withdraw that member's frames.
7. What you confirm
- You took the frames, or have the right to share them.
- You will not upload files that are not astronomical images.
8. Quotas and fair use
Storage and frame quotas apply per contributor and per project (see how to join). Uploads may be paused for maintenance or to protect the service.
9. No warranty
The service is provided free, as is, and in pilot. Stacks are automatic previews, not finished images.
